Drawing from her experience in broadcast journalism, Michelle plays a newscaster in Season 2 of the acclaimed NETFLIX series "Mindhunter," Season 6 of "House of Cards," the Marvel TV series "The Gifted" on FOX, "Insatiable," AMC's "Halt & Catch Fire," "Boss" and Tyler Perry's TV series "The Oval." You can see Michelle in the role of Dr. Natalie Shore in Season 2 of Ava DuVernay's "Queen Sugar" on OWN. On the silver screen, Michelle's first supporting role was in the dark comedy LUCKY, which stars Colin Hanks and Jeffrey Tambor. Michelle's other feature film credits include A FALL FROM GRACE, VENGEANCE, LAST OUNCE OF COURAGE, NAILBITER, and a lead role in THE PROFIT, written and directed by Academy Award Winning Screenwriter Kevin Willmott. In the family film space, she is the sassy realtor Lisa in Sandra Martin's RENOVATION OF THE HEART and the spiteful finance Megan in Jason Hudson's ACCIDENTAL FAMILY. Michelle can be seen in national commercials, corporate videos and print campaigns for clients, including Sprint, Colgate, Aldi, Hallmark and John Deere.
Michelle co-wrote the short film "BOYMOM," directed by Collin Schiffli, which is based on the award-winning feature-length screenplay "No Man's Land," co-written with her writing partner Jeffrey Field. Michelle was a writer on Season 3 and 4 of the CBS TV show "The Inspectors," an educational and informational show. Michelle co-wrote the feature film ARBOR DEMON with Director Patrick Rea, starring Fiona Dourif and Jake Busey. The thriller had a limited theatrical release in Toronto, Columbus, Portland and Kansas City through Gravitas Ventures. ARBOR DEMON premiered at Fright Fest UK, and screened at New York Horror Film Festival, St. Louis International Film Festival, FANTASPORTO in Portugal and Belgium Horror Film Festival. She wrote, directed and produced the Emmy Award winning comedic short film "A Senior Moment," also recognized with a Celtx Seed Grant and audience choice awards at various film festivals. She directed the musical short film "The Perfect Note," which won Best Heartland Short Film at KC FilmFest and Best Musical at the Austin Revolution Film Festival. Her other shorts films, including "Sound Off," "Ready to Pop," and "Good Conduct," have screened at Palm Springs International Shorts Fest, Holly Shorts, Reel Shorts in Canada, San Francisco Women's Film Festival, Palm Beach Film Festival, Athens Children's Film Festival and Rincon Festival in Puerto Rico.
On the small screen, Michelle currently hosts the national TV show "Holstein America," inspired by the stories of Registered Holstein breeders from across the country and celebrates modern-day dairy farming. Michelle co-hosted of the Emmy Award winning TV show "Discovering KC" in 2019. Michelle hosted a daily entertainment show “Kansas City Live” on KSHB (NBC), where she interviewed celebrities like Don Cheedle, Jennifer Lopez, Jason Bateman, Jason Sudekis, Sally Field and Kate Hudson. Michelle won a Mid-America Emmy for Best TV Host for KC Live. Michelle also co-hosted the TV show "Cinema KC" on PBS for four seasons with Erin McGrane. She spent a decade working in local news as a new reporter and anchor at KOMU and KYTV, where she earned an Edward R. Murrow Award for investigative journalism and Missouri Broadcaster Awards. Michelle is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
